Archives and Research Centers for Ethnomusicology

The Archives and Research Center for Ethnomusicology (ARCE) provides resources for the study of ethnomusicology and the performing arts in India through archival collections, library resources, field research by staff, special events, advanced training, internet resources, and collaborations with institutions, scholars, communities and performing artists in India and around the world. Access to its collections is enabled in a way that respects professional ethical standards, artist and collectors wishes, and Indian copyright legislation.  Materials are disseminated using methods that change with evolving technologies.

Center for Art & Archeology

The Center for Art & Archaeology (CA&A), a leading archive and library on visual arts & architecture of the Indian subcontinent, deploys its resources to facilitate scholarly research and to provide the broadest possible access to a diverse national and international audience. Central to this mission in the 21st century is advancing the impact of CA&A resources through the digital transformation of its archives and research publications and ensuring an expansion of its holdings to more fully reflect the subcontinent’s forms of visual expression, as well as creating a globally accessible digital resource.

Virtual Museum of Images & Sounds

The Virtual Museum of Images and Sound (VMIS) is a virtual museum created by using the resources of two image and sound archives of the AIIS – the Center for Art and Archaeology (CAA) and the Archives and Research Centre for Ethnomusicology (ARCE).
